Tips on Installing Sheds
Many people when shed shopping or installing sheds, do tend to look at the obvious: The price, the type of material used, does it come with a floor, the width of the door…which is all good stuff and should be considered. Some even take it a step further and check out the warranty, the joists, and what options they can add.
However, there is one important element, that should always be investigated. The company itself and the customer service they provide.
Some common advice to new car buyers is “Check out the service department at the dealership”. And most people tend to spend repeatedly frequent places where they receive better service, be it a clothing shop or home improvement store, because that service is valuable to them. After all, getting ignored by sales clerks or having a cranky bank teller, etc….can be really annoying. Whether you spend $5 or $5,000 on something, you should be valued as a consumer.
So a shed isn’t different from any other investment! There are several things you can do to ensure that your money is being well spent:
- Find the company online and ensure they are registered with the Better Business Bureau with a GOOD rating.
- Make sure the shed company’s website provides easy accessability to their customer service department, via email, phone, or both. A good website will also have FAQs.
- Does the shed company have longevity?
- If desired, contact the company and inquire about the process of purchasing and installing sheds, looking at the timliness of the response and the tone of the email.
- If having the shed installed, make sure the installer walks you through the process before building, and afterwards, gives you a complete walk through of the shed, showing you the work that was completed so that you are satisfied.
Many companies sell sheds by the side of the road, what could be called “mom and pop” type of places. And while some are legit, some are also not going to take care of you in the event of any issues such as warped wood, bad installation, etc. It’s so important when spending several hundred or thousand dollars to make sure that your investment is protected! Find the companies that care about you as a consumer, and not just out to make a profit…they’re out there!
