What to Consider

Is your garage overflowing with holiday decorations? Do you wish you could park your car in there too? Or are you looking for a detached woodworking shop? Backyard storage sheds make it all possible. Here’s what to consider before buying one:

Style

We offer 4 styles of sheds: barn, modern, gable, and ranch. The style you select mainly comes down to your aesthetic preference, with a few functionalities to consider.

Gambrel sheds offer a more country look with the gambrel-style roof that allows you to take full advantage of the overhead space inside.

Gambrel sheds offer a more country look with the gambrel-style roof that allows you to take full advantage of the overhead space inside.

Modern sheds are built with clean and angular roof lines. The transom windows above the door and the windows on each side let in plenty of natural light, making this ideal for alternative use.

Gable sheds have A-frame roofs that slope down to the walls. The simplicity and affordability make this our best-selling style.

Ranch sheds generally feature a gable roof with doors positioned on the eave wall. Ranch sheds are a favorite of those looking for more standing room inside.

Size

Each of our shed styles comes in several different sizes. When selecting a size, consider what you’re going to be storing so you can determine how much overhead, floor, and wall space you’ll need. If you’re storing large equipment like bikes and a lawnmower, you’ll need more floor space. If you’re storing long-handled tools, you may need more wall space. Always plan on a bigger size than you think you need.

Permits

Before purchasing a shed, check with your local municipality and/or homeowners association to determine what permits and requirements are needed. Shed Liquidators is not responsible for zoning compliance.

Prepping Your Yard

When deciding where to put your shed, make sure you decide on a spot that is in a high area of your yard, allows for 3 ft. of clearance on all sides, and is level. If your ground is not level, read our guide on how to easily prepare your yard for a level shed. Also, be sure to consider a spot in your yard that lets in the most sunlight.

Regardless of installation type, you will need to caulk the joints and paint your shed to protect it from water. This should be done within 30 days of installing your shed. The good news is all our sheds come pre-primed and ready for painting.

Professional Installation

All of our sheds come with installation service included. With this worry-free option, we will contact you a few days after your order has been received to schedule an installation (4-8 weeks from order date). The installer will arrive with your shed and their own tools. Most installations will take a full day and the installer with walk you through the finished shed once they’re done. If you have any questions or concerns about the build, don’t hesitate to bring it up to your installer.
