Shed Buying Guide

Shed size
When choosing the size of your new shed it’s important to consider several factors: floor space, overhead and wall hanging space, walk-around space, and workspace (if needed).

Yard Location
When deciding where to put your shed, make sure you decide on a spot that is in a high area of your yard, allows for 3 ft. of clearance on all sides, and is level. If your ground is not level, read our guide on how to easily prepare your yard for a level shed. Also, be sure to consider a spot in your yard that lets in the most sunlight.

Homeowner’s Association/Permits
Check with your HOA or local municipality to ensure your shed meets any restrictions on building sizes, siding, roof type, and foundations. Shed Liquidators is not responsible for obtaining permits.

Assembly Instructions

Maintenance

Our sheds are manufactured with the utmost care to ensure every structure meets our engineering standards. Like your home, your new shed will require occasional maintenance to ensure many years of use. In addition to re-painting your shed as needed, you must perform other maintenance:

  • Once your shed is built, be sure to caulk all joints.
  • Keep all grass and other plants trimmed around the perimeter of the shed.
  • Do not mound soil or mulch against the siding.
  • Do not stack anything against the exterior of your building, such as firewood.
  • Locking doorknobs or levers should be sprayed with silicone or another lubricant to maintain the locking mechanism and prevent freezing in cold climates.
  • We do not recommend insulating or heating your building without proper ventilation.
  • Do not let sprinklers spray your building.

I’m very happy with the

"I’m very happy with the quality and appearance for the price. It arrived on schedule, and the installer traveled a considerable distance, working all day. I was impressed with the quality of the framing lumber. My only concern was the poor fit of the foam strips intended to seal the space between the walls and roof panels. I added spray foam to keep out insects or small rodents. Painting was easy, and I liked being able to match the color of my house."

Great Shed!

"The shed has been a great addition to my backyard. The install went well and only took a day. The two-man crew started in the morning and were finished by late afternoon. The shed was the perfect size and I love the shelves."

Great Shed! Highly Recommend

"Not going to lie here, this shed is really well built - surprisingly so. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought it, but I couldn't be more happy with it now that it's installed. The instructions were really easy to follow. Everything was well marked and labeled. There were only two things that I added/replaced that were not included in the shed kit. The first was a few more floor joists (if I remember correctly, the instructions were for 16" between floor joists. . . I bought more wood to make that an 8" gap instead which REALLY makes the floor feel solid). The second was an actual shingled roof instead of the metal roofing that was provided. I guess my only suggestion to Shed Liquidators would be to have an option when purchasing for a shingled roof or a metal roof. All in all, I would highly recommend this shed and will probably be buying another one of Shed Liquidators' sheds to replace an older shed that I have in my yard."

You get what it says you get

"We found that the description on the big-box store website and the associated specifications and manual were very thorough and explicit if you read them all carefully you should have no surprises. We had only one minor issue which was that the windows did not quite fit into the doors but a minor correction to the wood with a die-grinder fixed this issue."

Shed made Easy!

"I have needed a backyard shed for the past 2 years in my new home. Finally pulled the trigger with this one and it turned out to be the perfect she-shed for me! Yes you do have to paint it but to me painting a shed by myself was a much better option than having to build one or find/pay someone to do it. The gentleman that came to deliver and build my shed was a total beast! He kept working even when it started to rain. The weather delayed him being able to finish but he was back bright and early the next day to finish the job. I was greatly impressed by his work ethic. I have had my shed for about a month now and so far it is meeting all my needs and is the perfect size for what I need."

Pretty solid

"Nice 10x12 shed. It seems like it will last many years. Some of the cuts in the pre fab process where abit off but doesn't really affect aesthetic or fuction after caulk/painting. Holds my log splitter 52 zero turn and all my outdoor tools with room to spare"

Customer (4/5)

Wonderful addition to garden

"I bought this a few weeks ago and it was everything I had hoped for. It is well built and easy to install. Aside from its durability it looks great in our backyard. We couldn't be happier with our purchase."

Frequently Asked Questions

Our sheds come with pre-cut lumber pieces ready to assemble on-site by our professional installers. Each shed has a base shed kit, a floor system, fasteners, runners, shingles, and door hardware. Some models come with extras like shelves, a storage loft, a threshold, or vents.

Before installation, choose a build site with a 3-foot clearance on all four sides and above. The site must be free from trees, shrubs, limbs, or other debris. The site also needs to be level within 6 inches. Your installer will level up to 6 inches at no additional charge. If your site is out of level by 6 inches but is under 18 inches, we offer a leveling package for an additional charge. You’ll need to provide access to electricity within 150 feet of the unit, as well as 3-foot minimum unobstructed access for installers to carry your materials to the building site, or additional charges will apply. Keep pets inside or on a leash away from the installation area.

All our sheds come with a 10-year limited material warranty, with some materials extending beyond 10 years. Standard shingles have a 25-year limited warranty. Architectural/dimensional shingles have a limited lifetime warranty. Louisiana Pacific® SmartSide® siding and trim has a 50-year limited material warranty. Professional installation comes with a 1-year labor warranty.

Unless you live in an area where professional contractors are required to pull the permits, customers can pull their own building permits. We can provide the drawings to assist with this. If you would like us to pull the permit for you, we offer a permit package that covers the procurement of the permits. Every municipality has different permit requirements and fees, so once we receive your order, our local warehouse will reach out to you to get the necessary documentation (I.e., plot plan, seismic testing, etc.). Depending on the permit cost or required documentation, additional fees will vary by municipality.

Our sheds come with pre-cut pieces ready to assemble on-site. This means your shed gets delivered and installed without removing a fence or creating a large clearance to get to the build site. The shed will come factory-primed and ready for you to paint.

If your shed is built on 4x4 runners (aka skids), it can be loaded onto a flatbed truck and transported to another location. We recommend using a towing or barn moving service to do this. The shed should be empty before moving. Additional supports or bracing may be needed inside the building before transporting.  Check local zoning ordinances for transportation due to width and height restrictions.

Wood sheds are constructed with many of the same materials as your home. They look great and are built to last, meeting or exceeding most building codes and HOA requirements. Aesthetics Wood sheds have an attractive look that comes in various architectural styles that can be painted and shingled to match your house. Durability Wood is known to be an extremely strong and durable material. Our sheds have a sturdy frame and floor system to withstand strong winds, heavy snow, and heavy equipment. Weather Resistant We use treated LP® SmartSide® siding that protects the shed from hail, wind, moisture, fungal decay, and termites. Customizable Whether you're using it for storage or extra workspace, our wood sheds can easily be modified for any use. Dream big and make the space exactly what you need it to be.
