Shed Buying Guide

Shed size
When choosing the size of your new shed it’s important to consider several factors: floor space, overhead and wall hanging space, walk-around space, and workspace (if needed).

Yard Location
When deciding where to put your shed, make sure you decide on a spot that is in a high area of your yard, allows for 3 ft. of clearance on all sides, and is level. If your ground is not level, read our guide on how to easily prepare your yard for a level shed. Also, be sure to consider a spot in your yard that lets in the most sunlight.

Homeowner’s Association/Permits
Check with your HOA or local municipality to ensure your shed meets any restrictions on building sizes, siding, roof type, and foundations. Shed Liquidators is not responsible for obtaining permits.

Assembly Instructions

Maintenance

Our sheds are manufactured with the utmost care to ensure every structure meets our engineering standards. Like your home, your new shed will require occasional maintenance to ensure many years of use. In addition to re-painting your shed as needed, you must perform other maintenance:

  • Once your shed is built, be sure to caulk all joints.
  • Keep all grass and other plants trimmed around the perimeter of the shed.
  • Do not mound soil or mulch against the siding.
  • Do not stack anything against the exterior of your building, such as firewood.
  • Locking doorknobs or levers should be sprayed with silicone or another lubricant to maintain the locking mechanism and prevent freezing in cold climates.
  • We do not recommend insulating or heating your building without proper ventilation.
  • Do not let sprinklers spray your building.

The quality of the shed

"The quality of the shed is great! However, the installers left multiple nails protruding from the roof, the base boards had different wood grains. I requested to have them fix these issues and they refused to correct the flaws. Very poor customer service- took to weeks to speak with a person."

It was a gift to

"It was a gift to my daughter and she absolutely loves the shed. She lives in a 690 sq ft house and having sufficient storage is a must. Great quality and installation was perfection. The installation was done in 1 day. I would buy it again, if needed."

Helga H. (5/5)

The shed seems solid and

"The shed seems solid and sturdy, so overall I am happy with it. I had the shed put together, and overall I am happy with that as well with a couple of exceptions. First off, they used a piece of OSB under one of the supports for the flooring, and that is cheesy. Also, one piece of the flooring is either flipped over different than the rest or is a totally different type of OSB because it looks different. It is functionally the same, but it is odd not all the flooring matches."

In general it was all

"In general it was all there and the instructions worked great. The kit was missing the major nails (about 10 boxes, I think) and the proposed resolution was to stop the job, contact them and dispute the missing items. That wasn't possible. We just had to buy all the nails."

The Journey is sour

"The shed itself is adequate, installation was ok mostly charging my card repeatedly canceling and reordering my order incorrectly and send me other people’s order even after my order has been completed and charging my card after my transaction has been completed makes me wish I used a prepaid card"

Judith S. (3/5)

I enjoy the shed but

"I enjoy the shed but it didn’t have the 2 roof vents that I paid for Installer said he would report it and I should hear something from ur company in a week or so. I have not heard anything Roberta Butcher"

Q&A

What do I need for this shed that is not included?
Hello Troy! Thank you for reaching out to Shed Liquidators. We appreciate your interest in the 'Sydney.' Please know that for the DIY kit, shingles, nails, and paint are sold separately. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Have a great day! https://www.shedliquidators.com/pages/contact
I see the stud spacing for the Sydney is 24" o.c. But I have used LP Smart Siding elsewhere and it called for 16" o.c. Can you reconcile this? Thank you.
Hello Michael! Thank you for reaching out to Shed Liquidators. We appreciate your question. Please know that LP SmartSide panels are often rated for either 16" or 24" stud spacing. While the Sydney uses 24" o.c. stud spacing, it’s designed to work with the materials included in the kit. For more information and details, we recommend scheduling a consultation with us. We have provided a link below. We hope this information is helpful. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach back out. Frequently Asked Questions

Our sheds come with pre-cut lumber pieces ready to assemble on-site by our professional installers. Each shed has a base shed kit, a floor system, fasteners, runners, shingles, and door hardware. Some models come with extras like shelves, a storage loft, a threshold, or vents.

Before installation, choose a build site with a 3-foot clearance on all four sides and above. The site must be free from trees, shrubs, limbs, or other debris. The site also needs to be level within 6 inches. Your installer will level up to 6 inches at no additional charge. If your site is out of level by 6 inches but is under 18 inches, we offer a leveling package for an additional charge. You’ll need to provide access to electricity within 150 feet of the unit, as well as 3-foot minimum unobstructed access for installers to carry your materials to the building site, or additional charges will apply. Keep pets inside or on a leash away from the installation area.

All our sheds come with a 10-year limited material warranty, with some materials extending beyond 10 years. Standard shingles have a 25-year limited warranty. Architectural/dimensional shingles have a limited lifetime warranty. Louisiana Pacific® SmartSide® siding and trim has a 50-year limited material warranty. Professional installation comes with a 1-year labor warranty.

Unless you live in an area where professional contractors are required to pull the permits, customers can pull their own building permits. We can provide the drawings to assist with this. If you would like us to pull the permit for you, we offer a permit package that covers the procurement of the permits. Every municipality has different permit requirements and fees, so once we receive your order, our local warehouse will reach out to you to get the necessary documentation (I.e., plot plan, seismic testing, etc.). Depending on the permit cost or required documentation, additional fees will vary by municipality.

Our sheds come with pre-cut pieces ready to assemble on-site. This means your shed gets delivered and installed without removing a fence or creating a large clearance to get to the build site. The shed will come factory-primed and ready for you to paint.

If your shed is built on 4x4 runners (aka skids), it can be loaded onto a flatbed truck and transported to another location. We recommend using a towing or barn moving service to do this. The shed should be empty before moving. Additional supports or bracing may be needed inside the building before transporting.  Check local zoning ordinances for transportation due to width and height restrictions.

Wood sheds are constructed with many of the same materials as your home. They look great and are built to last, meeting or exceeding most building codes and HOA requirements. Aesthetics Wood sheds have an attractive look that comes in various architectural styles that can be painted and shingled to match your house. Durability Wood is known to be an extremely strong and durable material. Our sheds have a sturdy frame and floor system to withstand strong winds, heavy snow, and heavy equipment. Weather Resistant We use treated LP® SmartSide® siding that protects the shed from hail, wind, moisture, fungal decay, and termites. Customizable Whether you're using it for storage or extra workspace, our wood sheds can easily be modified for any use. Dream big and make the space exactly what you need it to be.
